HostGator is a
hosting company
that works hard
to provide dependable
hosting solutions
at competitive
prices. HostGator
uptime is top
notch within the
industry. Customers
receive a 99.9%
HostGator uptime
guarantee with
shared and reseller
hosting packages.
Of course, dedicated
hosting solutions
offer advanced
reliability and
uptime as well.
The uptime guarantee
and subsequent
credits are determined
differently than
for shared and
reseller hosting
plans, however.
Any customer
with a shared
or reseller hosting
plan can rest
assured that their
servers should
never have a downtime
of more than .01%
in any given month.
There might be
instances in which
there is slightly
more downtime
that is justified
and acceptable
to customers.
For instance,
if HostGator announces
that they will
be upgrading their
servers or performing
other maintenance
work, downtime
might vary. HostGator
can inform their
customers of this
fact in advance
so that they are
aware that there
is the potential
for a little more
downtime. HostGator
uptime is important
to the company;
therefore they
will do all they
can to provide
uptime of 99.9%
as close to 100%
of the time as
possible.
When a customer
finds that their
services had a
server uptime
of less than 99.9%
of the time, they
can request a
credit of one
month of services.
For the purposes
of the HostGator
uptime guarantee,
uptime is calculated
by the reports
from the operating
system and Apache
Web Server. Clients
can send the reasons
as to why they
feel they experienced
a substandard
level of uptime
if they see that
the reported uptime
is lower than
99.9%.
HostGator customers
are not able to
request a one
month credit if
their estimate
of uptime for
the month is derived
from a third party
source. Their
figures are not
always accurate
and HostGator
would not consider
statistics from
a third party
as true justification
that the HostGator
Uptime of 99.9%
was not met.
It is rather
simple for a client
to receive a credit
based on the HostGator
uptime guarantee.
If the client
believes that
uptime was less
than 99.9% in
a given month,
they can email
sales@hostgator.com
with the information.
HostGator will
examine the facts
and figures to
determine if the
shared or reseller
hosting package
did in fact have
an uptime of less
than 99.9%.
Once HostGator
determines that
there was indeed
a problem with
uptime that month,
the customer will
be awarded a credit
to their account.
This is HostGator’s
way of compensating
if there ever
is a problem with
their HostGator
uptime in any
given month to
any given customer.
Less than acceptable
uptime is not
common at HostGator
but when it does
occur they want
to do all they
can to make things
right for their
customer. HostGator
realizes that
any customer can
lose out if their
server is offline
for any extended
period of time.
HostGator uptime
is a key component
of the success
of the hosting
company. They
strive to provide
excellent uptime
with all their
hosting solutions.
